Destination Highlights
The picturesque town of Funchal is set on a spectacular rocky peninsula on the south coast of Madeira. The town's steep streets, paved with smooth round basalt cobbles, lead to a variety of theatres, cinemas and nightclubs. View the abundance of trees and flowers at Jardim de Sao Francisco, a park filled with luxurious tropical plants, and see the beautiful views at Madeira Botanic Garden. East of the new marina, Harbor Promenade is a wonderful stroll. The floating cafes include the 'Beatles Boat', which once actually belonged to the Beatles.
Directions from Major Airport to Resort
BY AIR: Madeira Int 25kms BY ROAD: From the airport take the motorway west towards Funchal. Continue along the motorway under numerous tunnels for 16km. Follow signs for the hospital, keep to the left hand lane then merge with the other motorway. Continue towards the sea until you pass a Repsol petrol station on the right. As you pass a roundabout you will see the hospital on you right. Continue downhill towards the next set of traffic lights. Turn right over a bridge, keep left and go straight over the next set of lights. Pass the Monumental Lido Hotel and go straight on.
