Destination Highlights

Ooty is short form of Ootacammund, a town and the district capital of Nilgiris in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Located deep in the Nilgiri hills, also known as the Blue Mountains, it is a popular summer hilltop village and is at 8,500 feet above sea level. The area is characterized by fragrant eucalyptus trees and gorgeous kurunji flowers that give the slopes a bluish tinge. The average temperature ranges between 70° F and 90° F, and this market town cultivates popular vegetables and fruits such as potatoes, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, peaches, plums, pears and strawberries. Rolling mountains, great lakes, dense forests, grasslands, and tea gardens comprise the ecosystem. The natural beauty of the mountains and the valley make it an attractive tourist destination.

Directions from Major Airport to Resort

BY AIR: Nearest Airport: Coimbatore - 108kms from Ooty. It is well connected by train to most cities in India. There are regular bus services from Coimbatore, Mysore and Bangalore. Taxis are available from the airport. Please book taxi while in the airport terminal. Incase of landslides road between Conoor and Keti may be closed. Alternate route via Kotagiri is operational. Foreigners are advised not to drive in India. Therefore, all car hire comes with a chauffeur included in the price.
