CANDID DAYS
THINGS TO DO
Beaches located in town are less idyllic, but various breathtaking alternatives surround Candidasa. Hop on a motorbike or hire a driver to head 4.5km east of Candidasa. There, discover one of Bali’s most pristine beaches — the White Sand Beach, otherwise known to locals as Pasir Putih Beach.
Cradled between two hills and surrounded by palm trees, the nicely concealed beach exudes tranquil ocean vibes. Laze around for sunbathing, or break into the aquamarine blue water to swim and snorkel. For a literal taste of the ocean, tuck into locally grilled fresh catch. The clandestine nature of this hidden gem makes it an alluring discovery for the adventurous.
If the depth of the ocean intrigues you, Candidasa is where you will want to start your underwater journey. Along the front coast of Candidasa are the islands of Biaha, where experienced divers
will enjoy shark cave diving. Tepekong boasts popular dive spot, Canyon, while Mimpang is brimming with coral gardens and busy underwater life.
The eastern side of Bali is home to globally renowned dive sites. Just an hour from Candidasa, world famous USAT Liberty shipwreck sits at the bottom of the sea in Tulamben. Make a short trip
to Suraya for muck diving, Amed for reef
wall diving, and Padang Bai where white-tipped sharks and blue-
spotted rays are common
CANDIDASA
Waves crash and curl along the coasts of Candidasa, a hilly seaside town east of Bali, Indonesia. The former fishing village once had the most natural golden shores, attracting droves of sun seekers. Yet with the boom of tourism, beaches were gradually eroded by construction and reef mining activities. Surrealistically, Candidasa took only a few years to rejuvenate its identity as the ultimate holiday relaxation
pad. Favoured for the soothing sound of crashing waves, saltwater breeze and quiet peaceful nights, this seaside town has transformed into a coastal retreat for couples and families. On more adventurous days, head out to explore East Bali’s exotic and diverse list of cultural, aquatic and mountainous activities.
