Absolutely incredible. Sedona truly has an activity for everybody to enjoy!

Trip Overview

I had never been to Sedona before and only heard about how amazing it was from my best friend. My favorite thing about Sedona is the blend of outdoor enthusiasts with upscale amenities. You can be hiking the red rocks in the morning and have a spa appointment in the afternoon before heading off to taste craft cocktails for happy hour. I traveled in January during the “low season” where there are fewer tourists in town but would love to go back in May to see the wineries in their prime!

Arrival to destination & resort:

  • How did you get to the destination? I took a direct flight from Orlando, FL to Phoenix, AZ. It’s about a three and a half hour-long flight so I made sure my headphones were charged. I had a portable battery packed for emergencies, and plenty of reading material for the flight. I made this trip an adventure with my best friend who lives in Phoenix and she was kind enough to pick me up and show me around! Sedona is just about a 2-hour drive north of Phoenix.

Resort Information

  • What amenities are on the property? There was a pool and hot tub along with mini-golf for families/kids. The resort also has tennis and on-site laundry.
  • Is there a special check in process for RCI members? No

Traveler Type

  • Who is this resort/destination best suited for? Families, friends, and couples

Packing Tips & Weather

  • What did you pack for this trip (wish you had packed) during the time frame you visited? I packed a mixture of cold weather gear and hiking gear for the trip and made sure to include a set of nice clothes for dinner, cocktails, and our winery visit.
  • What would you recommend packing for someone visiting for the first timeScarves and extra socks! You can never have too many socks but with changing out of tennis shoes to hiking shoes, to boots for dinner and then back to hiking shoes for evening outdoor activities, I was on my last pair of clean socks by the end of the trip.
  • What was the weather like during the month of your visit? Chilly but pleasant. The temperatures dropped into the high 30s during the evening hour making stargazing chilly. During the day it was in the upper 50s – low 60s which called for layers throughout the day.

Activities & Excursions

  • Tell us some of the activities you did while on your trip. We went hiking on Devil’s Bridge trail, shopping in two different districts of Sedona, a winery tour, and stargazing at night.
  • What activities would you recommend to someone visiting? Stargazing and hiking! Arizona has little to no light pollution so being able to see the Milky Way with my naked eye was incredible. The hiking is incredible but there are also Jeep, horseback, train, or helicopter tours for those who would rather ride than walk.

Food & Dining

  • What were your favorite dishes, local specialties, favorite restaurants?  A tasty prickly pear margarita and enchiladas from Javelina Cantina was the perfect way to end the day!
  • Do you need to make reservations? Yes. Even for visiting during the “low” season, the restaurant was packed and we were glad to have a dedicated dinner time allotted for us.
  • If your unit had a kitchen did you cook any meals in the unit? Our room at the hotel had a kitchen, but we didn’t cook any meals. We took advantage of the refrigerator by bringing back leftovers to snack on and having the ability to make fresh coffee in the morning was a lifesaver!

Room Details

  • The unit was spacious and consisted of a large living room, dedicated dining room area, and a small kitchen. A covered patio was right off the dining room and the master suite was large and overlooked the pool.
  • Can you describe the resort’s location? The resort is right in the heart of the downtown arts district in Sedona. There’s also a creek that runs close to the property and if you’re up for walking, there are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance!

Final Thoughts

  • Any tips or tricks you'd recommend to someone visiting this location in the future?

Allocate at least 3-5 days for a visit to Sedona. We were in and out in 48-hours for a weekend escape and I wish we had more time to take advantage of the amenities such as golfing, one of the many spas, an ATV tour, and more!
